The Peugeot 3008 new model has now arrived, and it has a great deal of competition in the hotly contested medium SUV segment. Now, every new SUV has to bring something a little special to the table to stand out from the crowd. The new Peugeot 3008 SUV has plenty of exciting tech, everyday practicality, and some of the best safety features we’ve seen. Let’s take a closer look at the Peugeot 3008 so that you can make an informed purchasing decision.

The Cabin Comfort

This has to be one of the best cabins in the entire SUV segment, the materials are high quality, and there is plenty of space available. The fabric seats are comfortable and easy to wipe clean after a long day of touring. The chrome switches under the ample infotainment screen are understated and classy. The second row of seats has plenty of headroom and legroom to handle an adult passenger. The boot space is 591L which rises to just under 1,700L when the rear seats are folded flat.

The Peugeot 3008 SUV Drive

The engine is a 1.6L four cylinder turbocharged power plant that generates 121kW of power and 240 Nm of torque. This is plenty of power to drive the front wheels, and the management is handled by a six speed automatic transmission. This power output may seem a little mundane on paper, but the Peugeot 3008 is actually a bit of a goer. This medium SUV can go from 0-100km/h in just 9.9 seconds, and the acceleration is impressive. The fuel consumption is 7L/100km using a combined cycle, making it less thirsty than much of the competition. We have certain ride requirements here, and many imported cars simply cannot handle our terrain well. However, the 3008 has good compliance over lower humps, and it can handle country roads fine.

Fantastic Safety Features

Previously autonomous emergency braking (AEB) was a paid upgrade, but it is now fitted as standard to all 3008 models. There are other safety features now fitted as standard too, such as intelligent speed adaption, lane departure alert, and traffic sign recognition. Both adaptive cruise control and blind spot warnings are a paid upgrade. In the latest ANCAP safety testing, the 3008 scored 86% for adult occupant protection. In short, this is a very safe car to use during the week and to take out touring at the weekends.

A Value Judgement

The new Peugeot 3008 isn’t the cheapest option in the SUV segment, but the 3008 Active offers the best ratio of price to features in the range. What you get with a 3008 is genuine European styling paired with a very safe SUV that has plenty of tech onboard. This offers a solid value proposition for the Aussie SUV driver that wants something a little different.
